Accomplish Your New Year’s Resolution in the Orient
Dear A&K Partner,
Greetings from the Orient!
2018 is drawing to a close, so now is a good time to start thinking about the New Year’s Resolutions we want to make for 2019: the Year of the Pig. Here at A&K Hong Kong our top three resolutions are to spend more time with family, to stay healthy and to be more adventurous. To tie in with our resolutions, below we’ve listed a selection of insider access opportunities to match.
For us here, the pig symbolizes honesty, patience and wealthy so allow me to wish everyone a Great Year of the Pig to come!
Best regards,
Kath Fok

Family Life in the Orient
Family life plays a major role in oriental society and we’ve handpicked a few insider access opportunities to enable our guests to visit a local family and learn just how important it is.
City Life in Beijing
In Beijing, visit a local family, discuss daily life and, most importantly, learn the technique for making delicious home-style dumplings as you all gather round and chat.
Farmer Life in Sanjiang
In Sanjiang, local farmers welcome our guests into their home to share stories of a more rural lifestyle. Local minority groups also give a small ceremony.
Mountain Life in Tibet
In Tibet, guests learn how to make yak butter tea with the elderly, in the comfort of a Tibetan home. They can appreciate the unique architecture of the house, constructed with wood and clay.

Health and Wellbeing in the Orient
Health and wellbeing is presented as a balance of Yin and Yang. We’ve selected the perfect activities to help guests achieve that balance during their trip to the Orient.
Herbal Medicine in Hong Kong
For decades, the Chinese have practiced the tradition of Herbal Medicine. In Hong Kong, guests are able to speak with a well-known Herbal Medicine Doctor to learn how they can improve their body and lives. The chat is followed by a relaxing and healing foot massage.
Diet Planning in China
Diet plays a major role of healing in China. We’ve paired together a medicine practitioner and a cook to work with guests and design a menu to boost their energy and well-being.
Healthy rituals in Lhasa
In Lhasa, a monk can perform a private ceremony reciting special scriptures for wealth and health.
Offering a special well-wishing ceremony with a Tibetan dignitary allows guests to experience first-hand the mystery of the Tibetan tradition and culture.

Adventures in the Orient
Travel to China and the Far East is about more than just culture and history. We’ve put together some activities and experiences along the road less travelled.
Sand Dunes along the Silk Road
For a quick burst of fun, guests can ride a camel up to the top of the sand dunes, as is traditional. Then, once at the top, they can adorn sand skies or a sandboard and ride back down in a faster, less traditional way.
Helicopter Ride over Yangshuo
A helicopter ride over the Yulong River, the Site of Impression of Liusanjie, Fuli Old town, Li River, and Sanse Lake allows guests to appreciate this mountainous region from above.
Side Cars in Shanghai
We’ll take guests from the French Concessions’ 1930s art deco period to today’s blend of modern and traditional, but rather than walking or driving, they’ll be in in a side car!
